Basketball and Bicylces

Caleb played Upward Basketball this year at our local Baptist church. This is his 3rd year to play and was in the 4th-6th grade division. He was on a pretty good team. I think they finished up 6 wins - 2 lost. Caleb got a lot of play time as did all the boys. It was a little different this year than past years because they kept score and the referees were more diligent to make calls on the boys. Above are a few pictures of Caleb in action. He is number 34 and in the 2nd picture he is making the shot...his hands are in the air and the basketball is almost in the basket!

It was a beautiful day here and Macy decided it was just the right day to learn how to ride a bike with just two wheels!! We are SO proud of her for making up her mind to do something and keeping at it until she accomplished the goal. You can hear the joy in my voice and you hear her Daddy coaching her from start to finish. Yea, Macy!!

A beautiful fall day in Alabama

Just a short drive from our house is Longleaf Wildlife Conservation Area. It is so pretty this time of year and the weather could not have been better this afternoon after Caleb got off school. I met up with my friends Melody, Jennifer and Amy and all the children. The kids had the best time just hiking and playing around in the leaves.

Caleb's BIG surprise!

A big surprise in the making came together today. Grandparents Day is on the 24th at Faith Christian School. My Dad (a.k.a. Papa) was not going to be able to make it but was off school on Oct. 17th. After some discussion we came up with a plan to make a special day for Caleb by having Dad come and "teach" the class for about an hour and then eat lunch with Caleb in his class. Dad is a science teacher and Polymer Ambassador so he is very qualified to show a demonstration or two. He entered the room disguised as a mad scientist so Caleb wouldn't recognized him right away. His reaction once he did realize it was him was one of surprise and shock. He told Papa later that he realized it was his Papa when he looked into his eyes.
We are so grateful for Dad making the effort to come and spend time with Caleb and the rest of us but also giving his classmates a glance at what a scientist is about. Caleb came home from school today and said when asked what the class thought of Papa...."I think i've gone from one of the dorky kids to the most popular kid in the class thanks to Papa!"
What a great day and a great memory.

Caleb with Will and Drew

Will, Caleb(9yrs.) and Drew....cousins and friends! Will and Drew(almost 9 years old) are my brothers twin boys. As you can see they are football fans and great players for their team. We went over for a visit and as most visits go the boys end by throwing the ball around. Will is a HUGE Auburn fan as is his Mom and Drew is a HUGE Alabama fan. My brother stays out of it by supporting his teams....Mississippi State and Michigan. Thanks for a fun night!!
